Peterborough Neighbourhood Watch Association

Building Safer, Stronger Communities Since 1992

Who We Are

Neighbourhood Watch Peterborough (NWP), originally founded in 1992 as the Peterborough Neighbourhood Watch Association, has been a cornerstone of community safety across North West Cambridgeshire — the area served by Peterborough City Council. In 2018, we adopted our current public name to better reflect our evolving role and reach.

What We Do

Understanding Our Journey and Mission

At the heart of NWP is the Coordinator Action Group, a dedicated committee of Watch Coordinators, Area Coordinators, and representatives from the Police, housing associations, and other partner organisations. This group meets every 6–7 weeks across Peterborough’s three Police Sectors:

– North Sector
– South Sector (south of the River Nene)
– Central/Eastern Sector
Together, we manage all aspects of Neighbourhood Watch, including:
– Supporting new members and helping launch local schemes
– Problem-solving community safety issues
– Distributing street signs and leaflets
– Connecting coordinators across neighbouring schemes
– Liaising with key partners such as:
– Cambridgeshire Constabulary
– Peterborough City Council
– Local businesses
– Domestic Violence and Drug Support Panels
– Environmental Services
– Organised Crime Mapping Panel
– Voluntary sector organisations
– PCVS (Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service)

Our Milestone: Registered Charity Status

We’re proud to announce that in February 2025, Neighbourhood Watch Peterborough became a Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
Charity Registration Number: 1212057
This new status strengthens our foundation and opens up exciting opportunities for growth, funding, and deeper community impact.

Staying Connected and Informed

Since our founding, the Coordinator Action Group has met regularly to share updates, hear reports from local areas, and promote good practice. Two of our members also represent Peterborough on the Neighbourhood Watch Cambridgeshire panel, ensuring our voice is heard at the county level.
For transparency and community engagement, we make key documents available upon request, including:
– Meeting agendas and minutes
– Annual General Meeting records
– Policy and governance materials
